This position will independently perform various sonographic examinations with minimal supervision. Assists the radiologist(s) and primary practitioners by performing high quality non-invasive diagnostic general ultrasound examinations using a variety of equipment and accessories, and accurately documenting this examination for dictation by the reading radiologist/practitioner according to departmental policies and procedures. The sonographer develops adequate clinical information, evaluates images and presents completed examinations for interpretation. The sonographer may render preliminary findings at the discretion of the Medical Director. If on-call duties are assigned the expectation of the position is on-site arrival within 30 minutes for general emergencies and 20 minutes for trauma. May be required to cross train in additional modalities including physiological studies as appropriate. This position reports to the Ancillary Services Manager and assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

- Licensure: Must be a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS); must maintain continuing education requirements as specified by credentialing body. Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) is preferred. Loss of certification will result in termination. Completes all licensure and/or certification requirements.
- Experience: Must have at least 1-year clinical experience (not including clinical internship) in the field of non-invasive vascular technology and diagnostic medical sonography, or be able to demonstrate the satisfactory acquisition of such skills within the probationary period.
- Sonographers who are also ARRT registered as radiographers may be required to perform diagnostic radiology studies as needed, including routine workday rotations in radiographic modalities as appropriate.
- Obtain BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
