Ocean Beach Hospital sponsors a nationally-recognized chronic disease workshop several times throughout the year. “Living Well With Chronic Conditions” is an in-depth program developed by Stanford University’s Patient Education Research Center that teaches people suffering from chronic disease how to pursue normal daily activities.
This workship is designed for people with diabetes, heart disease, asthma, arthritis, chronic pain and fatigue. Course participants are taught how to problem-solve and develop a personal action plan to live healthier. Topics addressed in the workshop include techniques for dealing with pain, frustration, fatigue, isolation and depression. Other subjects include exercise and nutrition.
Workshops consist of six weekly, two-and one-half hour sessions. There is no charge for the program, but registration is required.
