Education is a core element of good healthcare.  One of our goals at Ocean Beach Hospital and Medical Clinics is to provide community-based education programs that help people take better care of themselves.

We offer a comprehensive diabetes education program including weekly support groups, as well as a tobacco cessation program.  Twice a year we provide a free, six-week chronic illness workshop developed by the nationally recognized Stanford University Patient Education Research Center.  The program teaches sufferers of chronic disease how to create a personal action plan and incorporate healthier choices in their lifestyle.

We sponsor an annual Health Fair each September that includes classes, free medical screenings and a host of community health providers offering information on health and safety services that are available locally.  We also support the annual Women’s Heart to Heart educational luncheon in February.
